I am a sales rep with over 20 years of experience, and in addition I have two years of experience as a software tech trainer. I am willing to work whatever hours are necessary as I really want to get into the wireless industry. I have applied online and also personally delivered my resume to the store managers. Still, I have never received a single request for an interview. When I visit the AT&T stores I meet reps that have little if any sales experience. My question is, does a resume with a documented sales career preclude getting hired at AT&T? Will being over XX years of age keep you from getting an interview? Right now there doesn't seem to be any other explanation.

Just got the training schedule to start on the 3rd of next month in King of Prussia, PA. Seems my coordinator is away for the weekend but I really need to know if there is exceptions made for people who are close to, but under the 50 mile limit for hotel accommodations. My store is 44-45 miles away depending on which route Google uses, but its still an hour drive both ways without taking traffic into account, and I don't currently drive. It would be quite a lot to ask of someone to drive me four times a day, every day for 20 days straight. Has anyone been in a similar position that can weigh in on this for me. I'm aware I could just wait till next week and talk to the coordinator directly, but I'm very excited to start and very curious as to how I am going to make this work. Thanks in advanced for any help!

Just completed the background with HireRight for AT&T. Spoke with a hiring manager yesterday who confirmed this information. I was then told my background info was sent to the AT&T Adjudication Team. Does anyone know if this is standard procedure, or is this something I should be concerned about? The entire process has been quite slow. If anyone has any insight into this process please let me know. Thanks.

I applied for an RSC position with my local AT&T store, and have gone through the testing, 1 phone interviewer with the hiring manager, and a 1-on-1 interview with the store manager. Both interviews went great and seemed like I hit it off really well with bother managers. 2 days after I did my 1-on-1, I got an email from AT&T asking for my SS# and to fill out a tax credit survey. I did this immediately, and then my application status went to "completed". Does this mean that there's a good chance that I got hired? I still have not received any correspondence from HireRight, or a conditional offer. Will AT&T notify me if I didn't get the job? In anyone's experience, is this a good indicator that I am/will be hired?

I have now had two interviews, both went well. I applied for one location, but interviewed with a manager in another. Nothing too weird with that. BUT, I can't figure out why I got a call from an at&t recruiter first asking me if part time would be okay. I really wish I was looking for P/T because it would have been easy! But I can't provide for myself or family on that income. The other part which was remarkably nice, she asked where in the area I would be willing to work. I gave her a pretty extensive list and she then told me she would call back after she spoke with another manager in another store to setup an "RGP"?? Not sure what that means, but I do hope this ends up working out. I am a former call center employee and rather enjoyed my time at at&t.

Any one in Charlotte or surrounding areas know if training is done in Charlotte or they send you away to another location? I am awaiting the call from the store manager for my second interview and just wanted to know that information in advance.

What's the etiquette on note taking? Should I bring a laptop, or does a notebook suffice? Any one who has already trained - Is there anything you wish you had know to bring? I really wasn't told if i would need to bring anything at all.

I posted this in another forum without success. Why does AT&T Wireless not hire experienced sales representatives with a proven career? I have over 20 years of sales accomplishments and want to move to the wireless industry. I am available to work any shift and weekends. The assessment test given online is just common sense. Both myself and my friends have noted that the majority of the reps in the store are younger than their early 30's at best. The amount of additional business I could bring in versus the newbies on their first or second job would be significant. And yet I can't get a first interview. I have even met with store managers and they say the hiring process starts with HR. Guess I have no idea how to get past HR. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Does AT&T really require applicants to give their social security number to third party recruiters in order to be considered for a contract position? And why do the AT&T web sites suck so badly? The only contact information I can find is for sales and service, they seem to try hide their corporate contact information at all costs. What are they ashamed of, or trying to hide? Can it be that they are ashamed of the fact that they can't mange their own telephones in their CORPORATE OFFICES!? I finally managed to dig up a telephone number for their corporate office and tried to call them to verify their hiring practices (to see if they really were so scummy that they required a SSN to be given to third party recruiters) and they disconnected me five times out of seven calls, and the other two I got dumped to a recording that didn't have anything to do with the reason I called . . . then at the end of the message, I got disconnected. Why can't AT&T manage their own phones? And if they do such a lousy job of communicating with the public, why would anybody want to do business with them, or work with them?
We just started staffing contract project managers for AT&T. The SSN is an optional requirement so far. If you became an employee for us and went on an AT&T project then of course we would need a SSN to process payroll. But there is no reason to have it up front and I probably would not give mine out either.

The previous comments about the hiring/interview process are accurate. They had a group testing event set up at a hotel and I went there to take the test (its like the asvab), and you could even do your application online there too. 50 min for 50 questions. I got the results that I passed 2 days later. And then was scheduled for the rjp/interview 2 days after that. However, there was another at&t employee at the rjp interviewing for the same position, which made me feel very uncomfortable. And the guy who interviewed me (standard questions about how you handled a "roadblock" at work, why do you want to work for us, how did you handle a difficult customer, tell us about your background, what did you like least about your previous job, etc), did not seem to understand that I have a strong customer service background, and have the technical training from my military service, and being a certified computer tech certified in Windows 7, and I told him of my A+, Security+, and Network+ certifications. He nodded his head like he knew what I was talking about and I am sure he was just going thru the motions of filling out the interview sheet for formality/official documentation that I was there. So...it took me 30min to drive home and when I checked my email I had already received the rejection letter from them saying I was not what they were looking for?! But my application would stay on file, for 6 months. If I can pass the U.S. Navy's nuclear training program, then I am sure I can adapt and train to be an outstanding wire tech for at&t. I have never received a rejection letter that fast after an interview...so to me it seems that the decision about whether to hire me or not was already made before I even got there. So thanks to them I got bent over again by another employer who doesn't recognize good talent when they see it, and I wasted approx. 3 hours of my life and $20 in gas. If you do get hired, ur very lucky, and don't quit.

Has anyone had an interview for a AT&T NOC position? I am a Cisco network operations technician and very much want to work for a ISP like AT&T. Because it is such a large corporation I was wondering how brutal the interview is for a networking job. I am not a network engineer yet, so not that crazy, like CCIE level. But I knew a guy who interviewed for IBM for a programming position. They gave him math tests (which is understandable for a programming job) and he had to go through seven interviews with multiple people each! I don't think I could survive that, not working for IBM that is for sure.

Hi on February 20 I applied for the a wire techinican job. Then a little while later the same day I got a email asking for my social security number and the wotc (tax credit thing). Well on feb 22 I got a email for me to take the TMFT II test. I went and did that on the feb 27 and passed it. I emailed hr and told them I was qualified on the TMFT II test. She said she would move me forward with a passing score. Yesterday on March 8 my job status says this. Job Status: Job Posting Open Submission Status (Click Status to View Description) Completed – Updated: Mar 7, 2014 View/Edit Submission|View Email Messages I have a good background in cable/satellite experience. I was wondering what does that mean. ?? They gonna contact me in a few days to interview me and offer a job or does it mean they are not interested in me. I haven't gotten no emails yet from them. Plus it has taken the withdrawal option away. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I saw you posted this almost a month ago. My start date is at the end of the month and I am still waiting on details about training as well. It would be great if you could give me any insight to what your training was like so far? Where did you have to travel? Did you drive or fly? Did you come home on weekends? How long is the training? What time of the day did training start? Thanks for the help!
I left on an early retirement package beginning of 2010 after close to 29 years of service. A friend of mine just told me a couple of months ago that AT&T will not rehire former employees. My cousin, about 15 years ago, had taken an early retirement buyout and less than two years later they called her and she came back as a second level. She just retired a year ago. Is the not rehiring something that has just started taking place within the past few years? Or since AT&T took over the SBC name?
I took a VRIP pkg with just 11 years back in 1998 and have contracted at various companies ever since. However, somewhere in the mid-2000's my resume started kicking out of the AT&T applicant tracking system (or vendor management system?) when I was submitted by consulting companies. As I recall, I only ever needed to supply the last 4 digits of my social. After a lot of digging, I found out that once SBC took over, they decided to exclude ANY former AT&T VRIP-ers - regardless of when the package was taken or how many benefits you left with. HOWEVER, changed in recent years and I am able to be submitted. NOW, just this week, a friend was asked for a full SSN to be submitted for a contract position. The recruiter is reputable. In the end she declined to give it over but I don't know if he ended up submitting her without the SSN - based on the post by AT&TRecruiter in Cockeysville,
